What If You Don't Want to Leave Your Job?
Hey, I'm not trying to convince you to do anything stupid. In fact, these techniques can be developed while you are still working. You will need to manage your time differently in a way that you can complete the necessary tasks. But tey are not overly difficult and often can be completed during your lunch hour in your prison cubicle (it really is kind of like a prison, don't you think?)
The Current Working Environment
Here are some of the finer points about how you may feel in your current job:
- You work in a job, or even a career, that didn't quite go as you hoped.
- You feel stuck because you are unsure what else you can do
- You never truly feel secure in your job as you could be part of the next cutback.
- Your pay and bonuses are not anywhere near where they need to be to live a decent life.
- Your compensation may have even been reduced, or at the very least not increasing
- Your boss is a big fat #&*$@^!
- Your aspirations for promotions have been squelched a long time ago.
Listen, I am not trying to make you feel bad. I'll leave it up to the jerks in Corporations to take care of that. This is what they particularly excel at. But you have to know you are not alone. These types of feelings are very common among most workers today.
Your boss would probably read this article and say, "the writer has no clue what he's talking about. We take good care of our people!" Oh yeah, then why are a lot of people contacting me about this article and telling me I am right on the money with this!
Just What is Safe Anymore?
Have you ever thought about starting your own business? Others will tell you not to because of the risks. It's not safe, they'll say.
Not safe? When's the last time you felt safe at your job? Have you ever been let go before? How about getting stiffed on your bonus and salary cuts? Safe? Yeah right!
Making Your Own Opportunities
The internet has become the greatest "employment" equalizer for those who know how to master it. No longer should you feel trapped in a dead end job or career as you can create your own opportunities.
This may all seem like a bunch of bull but it really is not. What if you had a way to help someone else? Do you think they would pay you to find out how to do what you know? If the information you provide can help them better their lives in some way, they won't have any problem whipping out the credit card. I know this because it happens for me all the time. And there's no reason why it can't happen for you to.
How Can You Get Paid Using the Internet?
I would say there are hundreds of methods of getting paid on the internet. If I tried to describe each and every one of them, this article would be about 500 pages or and more resources are being constantly added. That makes it impossible to comprehensively list them all.
Later, I will describe a business system that can be very easily started and managed. But here is a typical scenario that people often find themselves experiencing:
Scenario: Let's say you want to create a website/blog. It could be about any topic you choose. Furthermore, you want to determine a way to make money from that website. You know of a friend who created an online shopping website. The components to make that happen are:
- Find products to sell. You'll need to seek out a supplier that is willing to work with you. Often this requires large quantity minimum orders delivered to your location of choice, in palettes. If you don't have room in your house to store those palette full of products (or neighbors complain) than you'll need to pay for storage.
- Create an online product catalog of the products you plan on selling. You are technically savvy enough to make this happen, aren't you?
- Set up a payment processor. Say What?
- Take into account shipping, taxes, returns, etc.
- Deliver the products.
- Deal with customers when something goes wrong. Fun Stuff!
- Hope and pray that they get to the customer safely.

Affiliate marketing is very easy to set up and maintain. In a nutshell, if a vendor such as Target or WalMart, etc., allowed you to participate in their sales but took care of all of the minute details like order processing and distribution, etc., doesn't that sound like a viable alternative to the above ecommerce model?
Companies that adopt this affiliate model, such as Target, give you links to their websites that you can place on your website. These links are encoded which allow Target (or any other participating vendor) to know that the referral came from your website. If a visitor buys from that link, you get a commission.
Yet in no way did you have to worry about any of the order processing or distribution. That's what makes the affiliate model one of the easiest for people to take on when starting their business.
