Do You Brush Your Teeth? You Have What It Takes to Succeed
Do you brush your teeth? Seems like a rather odd question to ask - especially on a website about getting paid, no?
However, if you do brush your teeth on a regular basis, this could help you to succeed in your business. (See Below).
Want to skip right to how to make money online? Use my #1 Recommended Pick to find out how!
Why We Brush Our Teeth
When we were kids, we were told by our parents that we have to brush our teeth. We'd ask why. Our parents would tell us it's because we don't want our teeth to fall out.
But wait! Didn't we get paid money any time a tooth fell out? The story went that the tooth fairy would come and take the tooth in exchange for some cash!
Hmmm. Doesn't sound like a good motivator to brush our teeth.
The point is, kids don't really care whether their teeth are going to fall out. They care about eating dirt or figuring out what they are going to get for Christmas, etc.
Over time, and with constant badgering from your parents, it sinks in that you need to brush your teeth!
You Formed Good Habits Early On
Even though you needed to be told by your parents each night to brush your teeth, eventually it became part of your daily routine. This is why you don't need your parents now to tell you to brush. You just do it. You have built up this habit by constant reinforcement.
Success in Business Works the Same Way
When you are running your business, if you have a series of tasks that you believe will lead you to success, you need to repeat them in order to make them part of your daily routine.
What kinds of tasks should you repeat?
It's going to depend on the type of business you run, but if your business interacts with people online, you'll could do the following as repetitive tasks:
- Post content on Facebook
- Create posts for your blog
- Post relevant comments on forums
- Find guest post opportunities and post
- Tweet updates about your business
- Create a video as it relates to your posts
- Create a SlideShare presentation
- Etc.
This is by no means a complete list (not even close). But, it should give you some idea o the types of tasks that you can get in the habit of doing repeatedly.
How to Get Started
Good habits are formed by being consistent and frequent in your efforts. If you were to take on all the above tasks, plus any others you come up with, you will likely fail at developing them into habits.
Instead, every time your brush your teeth going forward, thing about your business. Initially, don't worry about the tasks themselves. Just set your mindset to think about your business each time you brush your teeth. Do this for two or three weeks.
Then, when your mindset is focused on your business when you do the simple act of brushing your teeth, you can start to incorporate one task from your list of tasks. You still don't need to do the task but simply think about it any time your brush your teeth. This will further your thought process that the task is important.
As you train your mind to focus on the tasks while brushing your teeth, when you actually start implementing them, the thought process behind them will be automatic.
Association Creates Mental Pathways
When you associated something you do on a regular basis with new tasks, you take something familiar (brushing your teeth) and you add something not so familiar (such as tasks that you need to do in your business).
The ideal way to go about this in small increments. Try the most important task first and then once it's a regular habit, add others in, one at a time.
What If You Don't Have a Business?
If you don't have a business of your own, it's super easy to get started with one. And you really should because it's easy. You just need to know what steps to take in order to get going on it. I can show you these steps which you can use to get started right away.
Even if you still have a full time job, you can get started part time to develop your business. By using the brushing your teeth paradigm, you will have what it takes to accomplish the tasks needed for this new business while you continue working in your job.
If you really feel like you don't have the time, you can hire others to take on the tasks. Just ask them if they brush their teeth everyday (just kidding).
